Alfonso Romo, head of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, considered that in Mexico we are going in the right direction to achieve the social and environmental objectives projected in the 2030 Agenda.
"In the Office of the President, we are walking correctly on the issues of the 2030 Agenda, federal officials work closely with state and municipal authorities so that investments as actions to be carried out respect sustainability and social development."
He indicated that it is essential Chile Mobile Number List to face this type of challenges with sustainable policies and exemplified that there are dialogue tables of the Presidency in the areas of infrastructure, environment and energy, which go hand in hand in their actions to promote national development.
When inaugurating the LI National Forum of the National Association of the Chemical Industry (ANIQ), he said that “we have to work to unleash the potential of companies and industries, so that they grow sustainably and not just growth for the sake of growth.”
The chemical industry in Mexico contributes 1.8% of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and has sustainability and energy as two of its four great challenges to face in the near future.
For ANIQ, the four challenges facing this sector are: security and rule of law (affecting investment attraction), efficient integration of value chains (allowing access to markets and free trade), sustainability (having sustainable investment and environmental policies) and energy supply (shortage that has caused social backwardness and loss of jobs).
Alfonso Romo accepted that Mexico is a nation without capital, that “it must encourage private investment to be the engine of development, coupled with the fact that we have to understand that it will not grow at 4% of GDP with half of the territory abandoned as it has.” suffered by the south-southeast of the country.”
He added that there are 40 trillion dollars globally to be invested in emerging nations, the global context in political spheres in other countries benefits us, since Mexico is very attractive for international capital and getting 5% of those moneys would unlock the development of the Mexican market.
In his participation, José María Bermúdez Minutti, president of ANIQ, said that this science is the cornerstone for 95% of Mexico's industrial chains, such as mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, automotive, among others.
He mentioned that the sustainability challenge requires that the actors involved promote public-private dialogue to comply with the national and global commitments and agreements signed by the country on environmental matters.
In his opinion, “the simplicity in the work of the legislative branch is of concern, which creates simplistic laws that prohibit the use of products such as plastics, without considering the damage to companies and jobs that this entails.”
He considered that solutions to ecological conflicts are not simple and public-private dialogue is required to find solutions in favor of all those involved.
The challenge of energy supply, which he described as the most pressing for the chemical industry, requires addressing the shortage of energy products and productivity that were generated by the value chain of Petróleos de México (Pemex).
“This situation has led to labor impacts with the closure of companies, insecurity and the urgent social reactivation that the south-southeast area of the country needs,” he assured.
He added that these challenges can be overcome in the short term and exemplified that the energy projects are already in the National Infrastructure Plan and if they are carried out, a radical change can be established for the year 2020 or 2021.
He indicated that the ANIQ asks the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to provide them with natural gas, whether Mexican or imported from the United States, in order to reactivate industrial facilities throughout the country.
